The Camino – Part 2

Two years ago, Jim and I walked our first Camino de Santiago. It was an experience which impacted us both in different ways but left us hungry for more. So when our friends Hilary and Graham reached out about joining them on another Camino, we enthusiastically said yes!

Fast forward to today, we will be leaving for Europe this coming Wednesday. This time, we will be walking the Portuguese Camino which is a bit under 400 miles, 100 less than our previous one. We begin our walk in Lisbon, Portugal and walk north to Santiago de Compostela (SDC). Last time, we walked from St. Jean Pied de Port, France to SDC and the distance was approximately 500 miles.

While I’m excited about all that we will experience on this adventure, I am also feeling a bit apprehensive because I have had some challenges in my training. Due to our travel, we’ve had to make many adjustments to our schedule. I’ve also had some physical challenges that have been a nuisance. Therefore, consistency has not been as present in my preparation and letting go of expectations has been my remedy.

One thing I learned on the Camino is that it will always provide. Whether it’s a physical item or a spiritual uplift, we will be taken care of. We are never alone. In the end, we will get what we need to out of this journey and that is such a blessing.

I look forward to sharing our journey with you all. For now, stay well and take care of each other. See you on the Camino. 😊
